After losing a few commits in the previous weeks, Toledo bounced back with a splash on Super Bowl Sunday when the Rockets received a verbal commitment from 3-star CB Dedric Brinson, as first reported by TheRocketNation.com.

That's right, Campbell was able to haul in a top 150 corner, in a defensive-back heavy class, over the likes of Wisconsin, Indiana, Duke UCF and Wake Forest among others. The Lake Wales High School (Lake Wales, Fla.) cornerback had previously been committed to Iowa State, but de-committed from the Cyclones two weeks ago.
Brinson, 6-2, 180, is a big corner who also played some time at wide receiver, and with plus skills as a defensive back and as a wideout could project out to either in the future. He's strong, fast, and has good hands. But if he can stay at corner, and add some bulk to his frame, he'd be a real asset to the Rockets secondary in the future. Big, athletic corners are hard to come by in the MAC, and would be invaluable in defending the increasingly physical wideouts we're seeing (See: Toledo's own Alonzo Russell is a prime example).
Not much else is known about Brinson. I couldn't find great film on him without forking over money, and I can't find stats for him for this season, or vitals such as 40-yard-dash. All the scouting reports I've read conclude though, this kid is an athlete.
He's joining an incredibly rich recruiting class that already features several athletes in the secondary. Brinson is the only corner in this class, but Toledo has commitments from four safeties, including 3-star Massilon High School product Marcus Whitfield.
With 21 confirmed commitments Toledo has moved back into second place of 247Sports MAC recruiting class rankings at the time of this post.
