TJ Weir started on the hill for the Cardinals, going five innings, allowing five hits and five walks, and struck out six. Three runs were scored against him in the fourth inning where a run was scored against him on a wild pitch followed by a pair of walks. That fourth inning really ran up his pitch count, throwing 29 in that half-frame and had 91 pitches through the fifth. Plesac would come in for relief at the start of the sixth and picked up the win, going four scoreless innings without allowing a walk.
The game was tied at three a piece after the fifth inning until the MAC Player of the Year Sean Godfrey came through with a 1-out, 2-run double in the bottom of the seventh to bring Call and Ryan Spaulding across to score.
Western Michigan will face Bowling Green tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in an elimination game, while Ball State will play Kent State tomorrow at 8 p.m.
