Revenge for their football team! Perhaps! Well, this was CMU's first game under head coach Keno Davis, so losing by 12 at a Big Ten school really isn't all that bad. They got the opener out of the way and weren't embarrassed. A good place to start.

Fifth-year transfer Kyle Randall led the team with an efficient 17 points (5-8 from the floor and 6-for-6 on free throws). Derrick Richardson chipped win with 14 points. Freshman John Simons looked good scoring eight points, five rebounds and leading the team with three assists.

Turnovers and lack of offensive rebounding mostly hurt them, but the up-tempo offense at least gave them a chance. If they play like this all year, maybe they won't be awful.
