Valparaiso 88, Kent State 83 (OT)

This was the very definition of a win slipping away. Kent State had a 3-point lead in regulation, with the Crusaders possessing the ball. A weak free-throw shooter was fouled with seven seconds remaining, who made the first, missed the second and the game-winning rebound slipped out of Chris Ortiz's hands, into Valpo leading scorer Kevin Van Wijk, who forced the game into overtime. And it went on from there.

Lots of great offensive contributions from many in this game: Randal Holt led the game with 20 points and five steals, Chris Evans scored 18 points on just seven shots, Bryson Pope added 13 points and Kris Brewer totaled 11.

Credit to Valpo: they got to the line a ton and made their FTs (34-for-41) to stay in this game.

Kent State drops to 2-2 and will next host Bethune-Cookman.
