Western Michigan 58, South Florida 53

I AM ALL THAT IS MAGIC GUESSING:

A possible Red Line Upset is waiting here.

It was on a pace that would've slowly eaten away at a jittery man, but WMU controlled much of the second half lead after being down two at halftime. USF's only lead of the game was a 49-48 score which actually remained that way for a full 2:59 before Nate Hutcheson's layup kept the Broncos up for good.

Freshman forward Darius Paul just remains darn impressive with another 14 points and eight rebounds. Brandon Pokley led WMU with 15 points, powered by 3-of-4 from three. Hutcheson wrapped it up with 11 points and six rebounds. In fact, rebounding was critical: USF was held to just three offensive boards and the Broncos outgained South Florida 36-26 on the glass overall.

This was also Western head coach Steve Hawkins' 300th career victory.

WMU is now sitting at 4-1 and looking terrific, taking their mind off football. They get an 11-day break before hosting High Point next Thursday.
