Xavier 62, Kent State 55

It looked ugly after the first half: Kent State had a narrow 20-18 lead. Apparently nobody told Melvin Tabb it was supposed to be a lethargically offensive game as he scored 16 second-half points to finish with 20 points and 14 rebounds, easily Kent State's best performance of the day.

Unfortunately the entire XU team didn't get that memo either, shooting the lights out and making free throws down the stretch to more than double their first-half output with 44 second-half points.

An up-and-down season continues for KSU as their three-game losing streak drops them to 5-5. Things are looking up for their next few games, starting with winless Saint Francis (PA) on Thursday evening.
