CMU hangs on to beat BGSU in a wild second half, 73-67

Wildest game of the night? It definitely qualifies. Does it constitute all-caps swearing? Well ... the 23-point lead was blown but didn't cost them the game, so perhaps not.

When the game was tied 8-8, CMU went on a 13-0 run in a four-minute span to turn this game into a silly one. I turned it off at halftime, because I'm a terrible BG supporter, but the reverse jinx worked.

After CMU was up 49-27 in the second half, all the Falcons did was go on a 26-4 run to pull within one point. They finally tied the game up with a Jordon Crawford layup with 3:25 left in the game. But after the media timeout, CMU put the game away by capitalizing on turnovers and making their free throws.

And I think it's important to note again that Kyle Randall turned out to be not only a suitable replacement for Trey Zeigler, but a better one, especially in terms of free throw shooting: he's at 90 percent on the year and went 13-for-13 on the day.

And credit BGSU to fighting back — they're doing that a lot — but it'll help them in future games not to go down 23 points, even on the road, and especially against middle-of-the-road MAC teams.
