MAC Basketball Super Saturday Week 8 Open Thread

A pair of nationally televised games in December? This can't be MACsketball right?

Marco Garcia-USA TODAY Sports

Football is winding down, with only one Mid-American Conference team left to play this season. But not to worry, because as football goes, basketball heats up. The non-conference slate of hoops season is in its final stretch and next up is grueling 18-game conference schedule.

Toledo is on a roll, garnering national attention, while Kent State, Akron and Ohio are showing they're serious contenders as well. Teams like the directional Michigan's have flashed signs of potential to make some noise in conference play. All in all, for a season that should have been a downer (with all the big names leaving) the MAC seems to be having one of its stronger years.

Today is no exception. There are four MAC Men's Basketball games on slate, and all but one looks to be a tough matchup.

Men's BBall Games, Sat., Dec. 28, 2013
Eastern Michigan @ Duke 2 p.m., ESPN2
Coppin State @ Toledo 2 p.m., MACDN
Akron @ South Carolina 4 p.m., ESPNU
Cleveland St. @ Kent State 7 p.m., MACDN

Is that a pair of nationally televised games I see? Why yes it is.

Oh, and let's not forget that on the Women's Basketball side there may only be one game, but it's a good one. Central Michigan and Crystal Bradford hit the road to take on Purdue at 2 p.m. We'll be live chatting the games all day. Right here, in this open thread. Feel free to swing on by, drop some thoughts on a game, or just say hello.
