College Basketball Rankings: Toledo Comes in At No. 12 in Mid-Major Top 15

Losing to Western Michigan dropped the Rockets a bit, but not all the way out of the weekly ranking of top mid-major programs.

Losing to Western Michigan wasn't a death blow to the Toledo Rockets as they hung onto a spot in this week's Mid-Major Top 15 over at Mid-Major Madness. The Rockets came in at No. 12 this week, dropping four sports from last week.

Western Michigan is a tough team that can score in bunches, so there is no shame in losing to the Broncos. Toledo has bigger aspirations than the MAC, however, and losing to WMU wasn't the way it wanted the first week of conference play to go. Nonetheless, Juice Brown and Co. have a lot more games to play and could see themselves rise by next Monday's poll.

The Ohio Bobcats are fresh off a draining game against Akron that went into double overtime before the Zips pulled away. They received some votes in the poll, so at least they still have that over their in-state rival.

And finally, the UMass Minutemen once again came in at No. 2 after two rough outings against St. Joseph's and St. Bonaventure. Once the schedule gets away from the parochial schools, the Minutemen should see their play even out a little. Maybe Derek Kellogg made a deal with the devil this year? I don't know.

Here is the poll in its glorious entirety.
