Apparently, voters weren't put off by Toledo's less-than-stellar performance at Western Michigan this past Wednesday because for the second straight week the Rockets check in at No. 4 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Coaches Poll.
Toledo slipped to No. 4 in the Mid-Major Top 25 a week ago after falling to Kansas on the road, but it appears that voters weren't as put off by the sloppy play at WMU, probably thanks to a 15-point win vs Central Michigan on Saturday. The Rockets, which weren't as fortunate in Mid-Major Madness' Top 15 poll, still trail unanimous No. 1 Wichita State, No. 2 Harvard and No. 3 Gonzaga. Though they managed to maintain their No. 4 position in the poll this week, Indiana State sits just six points behind them.
But Toledo isn't the only Mid-American conference team represented in the poll this week. Akron shot up nine spots in the poll to No. 15 after wins over Ball State and then No. 13 Ohio. The Zips seem to have hit a grove right at the start of conference play and have rattled off four-straight wins after dropping three in a row.
The Bobcats check in just behind Akron this week at No. 16, down three spots from a week ago. Ohio beat then No. 17 Kent State to open MAC play, but fell to the Zips Sunday night 83-80 in double-overtime. The Bobcats have a pair of easy cross-divisional games on slate this week so the 'Cats will likely be back up next week.
Speaking of Kent State, the Flashes round out the MAC representation in the poll this week checking in at No. 19, down two spots from a week ago. The slight slip comes despite the fact that Kent State has lost three of its last four contest. The lone win in the past two weeks came on Saturday against Ball State.
Elsewhere, WMU and Eastern Michigan received votes this week, but are still a ways away from cracking into the Top 25. The MAC is still the most represented conference in the poll, with four ranked members.
