Record:
9-10 (3-3 MAC)
Best Wins:
Bowling Green shocked the MAC when it became the first team not named Akron to defeat the Bobcats in a conference game since Kent State in 2012.
The Falcons also stunned Western Michigan by overcoming a 12-point halftime deficit on the road to defeat the Broncos 69-64.
Important Loses:
In what may go down as one of the worst games in the MAC this season, Bowling Green could only muster 36 points at home in a loss to Northern Illinois.
With a chance to make a huge statement against a premier program on the road, Bowling Green mounted a huge comeback but couldn't get it done in overtime against Xavier in a 85-73 loss.
Best Players:
Sophomore forward Richaun Holmes, sophomore forward Spencer Parker. The dynamic pair of sophomore forwards have led the Falcons in points scored this season, averaging a combined 26 points per game. The duo also accounts for 12 rebounds a game.
Player Who Needs To Step Up:
JD Tisdale. Only a freshman, Tisdale was forced into the lineup after Cauncey Orr suffered a season-ending knee injury. Though Tisdale is still young, 2.7 points and 2.5 rebounds isn't going to cut it in 19 minutes. He'll have to grow up quick down the stretch.
Glass Half Full:
The Falcons' backcourt gets hot and starts shooting well, leading to a few more upsets in the MAC East. The Falcons earn a bye in the MAC Tournament and take a game or two in Cleveland.
Glass Half Empty:
The workload continues to lean heavily on Holmes, Parker and Cameron Black, and the trio wear out over a tough three-game stretch against Buffalo, Toledo and Akron. The Falcons fall to the bottom of the MAC East and lose in the opening round of the tournament.
Next Four Games:
January 29 @ Eastern Michigan
February 2 vs Buffalo
February 5 @ Toledo
February 9 vs. Akron
Grade:
C+
Prediction:
I think there's still some magic left in those feathers. I think the Falcons can take a couple more games against the MAC East's best and finish just over .500 the rest of the way.
