The Western Michigan Broncos are way out west tonight, tipping-off against the University of San Diego Toreros tonight at 10:00pm Eastern. Western comes into the game 3-0, last beating the Drake Bulldogs at home on Saturday, 91-75. Drake, hailing from the West Coast Conference, is currently 2-1. They last played the Florida A&M Rattlers last week and won that game 72-41.

For the Broncos, this game is the start of a California trip that also includes the DirectTV Wooden Legacy Tournament, which features such teams as Long Beach State, San Jose State, and Washington (and San Diego again potentially, actually). But that'll start Thursday. Let's focus on San Diego first.

Six-foot, 185 pound senior guard Johnny Dee leads the Toreros in scoring this year, averaging 20.3 points per game. He's shooting a respectable 45% from the field, but a more impressive 44% from beyond the arc. He's second in the team in rebounding averaging five per game.

If Dee is the scorer, five-foot-seven, 150 pound senior guard Christopher Anderson is certainly the Toreros' distributer. Anderson is averaging eight assists per game and is also the team's number two scorer with 11.7 points per game. Focusing on Anderson will be key the Broncos success.

Western is seeing even more output from its forwards as of late. Against Drake, Tucker Haymond went off, leading the team with 24 points. Connar Tava also had a solid game, scoring 20 himself and leading the team with 7 assists. These two should continue their hot streaks out on the coast.

Don't go thinking senior guards David Brown and Austin Richie are going silent though - the two are still producing consistent numbers, scoring 14 and 11 respectively against Drake. The two also both had four assists a piece.

WMU head coach Steve Hawkins seems to like his traditional starting lineup with Drake LaMont at center, Haymond and Tava at the forward spots, and Brown and Richie at guard. And why shouldn't he, with the wins it has produced thus far?

Off the bench, look to sophomore forward Kellen McCormick and freshman guard Thomas Wilder to continue to contribute. Against Drake, McCormick has 11 points while Wilder had seven. As I've stated before, the combined weapons of this team keep working, and it'll be interesting to see how they do on this extended road trip.
