Last week, we saw Eastern Michigan catapult their way up to #1 in our power rankings. But after a loss to Dayton, they had to step down with the Akron Zips playing as well as they are.
|1||Akron Zips||3||W- Arkansas Pine-Bluff, W- Western Illinois|
|2||Western Michigan||2||L- Northeastern|
|3||Eastern Michigan||1||W- Marygrove, L- Dayton|
|4||Toledo||4||W- Cleveland St., W- Chicago St.|
|5||Buffalo||5||L- St. Bonaventure, W- Robert Morris|
|6||Bowling Green||6||L- WKU, W- Alabama A&M|
|7||Central Michigan||7||L- Bradley, W- SIU-Edwardsville|
|8||Ohio||8||L- St. Bonaventure|
|9||Kent State||9||W- Kennesaw St|
|10||Northern Illinois||10||L- DePaul|
|11||Ball State||11||L- EIU, W- Indiana State|
|12||Miami||12||L- Dayton, L- IPFW|
One way that you could look at this week is that the MAC had three teams not lose a game during Week 4: Akron, Toledo and Kent State. The only one that moved up in the rankings was Akron.
Eastern Michigan is a tough buy for a lot of us, and understandably so. The other top teams are scheduling harder teams early on, and there's a lot of merit in how closely some of us treat strength of schedule.
What's up with Ohio though? A loss to the Bonnies and the Bobcats are now 2-3 on the season. That's got me scratching my head.
But really, just a poor week for MAC shooty hoops. Once more teams start winning bigger games, then we'll see teams move in these polls, but we can't do that on weeks like these.
