Connar Tava to redshirt as a result of foot injury

The senior forward was a leader last season and the Broncos are now without him this season as a result of a broken foot sustained in October./

Western Michigan senior forward Connar Tava has chosen to redshirt and sit out the rest of the 2015-2016 season.

MLive WMU beat writer David Drew reported earlier today (Thursday) that Coach Steve Hawkins had said that Tava would redshirt this season as a result of his broken left foot, an injury sustained in late October.

We noted a while back that Tava would be out indefinitely with the injury, which is awful for a Broncos team that is playing without its best player. Tava was going to be the leader on this team in 2015-2016, and we even picked him as the fifth best player in the MAC before the season started.

Tava led the Broncos in rebounding and assists while contributing 12.3 points per game for a competitive Broncos bunch.  Now he will wait, heal and rehab in anticipation for a 2016-2017 season in which WMU has a lot of healthy young talent back.
