#MACsketball Monday: BE THANKFUL FOR SHOOTY HOOPS

AND WATCH SOME #MACSKETBALL WITH YOU AND YOURS.

Rufus Christmas Ohio University Athletics

As we roll on into week three of the MAC basketball season, there is no better time to reflect on all the promise that this season is showing than right now with the season of thanks upon us. We already have a win over an ACC team, great individual performances, and even a new rivalry started. Now, let’s gather ‘round the table here at Hustle Belt HQ and talk about the things we’re thankful for in this #MACsketball season.

I am thankful for the Akron Zips, who have grabbed more boards than a carpenter this season as they average 40+ rebounds per game this season. I’m also thankful for Ball State Cardinal Franko House for nearly averaging a double-double per game with 18 points and nine rebounds per game. I’m very thankful for the Bowling Green Falcons, who somehow have less wins than Miami at this point in the season.

I’m thankful for the Buffalo Bulls, who put up a valiant effort against a really good Xavier squad despite a lot of mistakes, as well as the Central Michigan Chippewas for bringing us Marcus Keene sand his 85 points in three games. I am thankful for the Eastern Michigan Eagles that took Pittsburgh to the absolute limit in a double-overtime loss and the undefeated Kent State Golden Flashes, who could really shake things up in the MAC season.

I am thankful for the Miami RedHawks, but mostly Michael Weathers as he’s been as dominant on the offensive end as any player in the MAC with 23.2 ppg and 6.6 rpg. I’m grateful for the Northern Illinois Huskies that are undefeated at home, as well as the Ohio Bobcats that beat Georgia Tech over the weekend. I’m also thankful for the Toledo Rockets and Steve Taylor Jr. as he averages a double-double a game with 16.7 points and 13.3 boards, while the Western Michigan Broncos have also gave us some things to be thankful for with a competitive loss to #3 Villanova.

When you’re home for Thanksgiving to partake in turkey (even though we all know that stuffing is better) and terrible football games (I’m sure the Pittsburgh/Indianapolis game that ends 16-13 in overtime will be a terrific nightcap to the holiday), don’t forget to be thankful for the most fun basketball conference in Mid-America. Now what are some of the things that you’re thankful for in this shooty hoops season?
