Western Michigan Broncos vs Kent State Golden Flashes men's basketball preview

Kent State looks to rebound vs Western Michigan on Tuesday night. Thomas Wilder looks to carry Western Michigan to a road victory and a winning streak.

Joshua Lindsey-USA TODAY Sports

The 10-15 Western Michigan Broncos face off against the 16-9 Kent State Golden Flashes in Kent, Ohio. This matchup features two prolific scores in sophomore Thomas Wilder (18.2 ppg) and junior Jimmy Hall (16.2). The Golden Flashes are still trying to gather their identity after losing second leading scorer Xavier Pollard to a season ending injury. Their only victory in their last five games was a one point victory over NIU. This is another important game for the Golden Flashes as they missed a chance to draw closer to Akron.

Back to Wilder, he's been a great to story to watch for the Broncos in a tough season overall. He's broken out in a big way as a sophomore registering 11 20-point games. Wilder has showed us that he can score, pass, rebound and play defense from the guard position. He's only had three games this season where he has been held under double digits. The Broncos are a very young team and it was great to see them play hard and break a three game losing streak this weekend against the Falcons.

Eastern Michigan stifled the Golden Flashes in their last game with their 2-3 zone in the first half. The Flashes began to figure it out in the second half with Hall and Spicer but it was too little to late. I'm looking for Kellon Thomas to have a big game as he like Hall has played in all 25 games thus far. Thomas has average 12 points on the season I look for him to get around 17 points in this game.
