The Northern Illinois Huskies and Kent State Golden Flashes look to end their losing streaks on Tuesday night. The Huskies are on a four game losing streak getting beaten by 11.5 points in there four games. This is a big stretch for the Huskies as they have this road game and Akron at home on Saturday. After starting 16-3 and 5-1 in the MAC, the Huskies have been dealt a wakeup call in their past four games. This pivotal stretch as mentioned above is going to be the difference between a mid level seed and a top four seed in the MAC tournament.
The Huskies will need Marin Maric and Travon Baker to get back on track and lead this team. The two have struggled as of late and really need to play well for the Huskies to pull out a win in a tough environment. One thing that has changed is the defense of Northern has faltered as of late. They have given up 80, 90, 76,72 after giving up a MAC low 49 points against Toledo.
The Golden Flashes have really struggled since Xavier Pollard's injury. Their last three games they have given up 47.7 points in the second half which has been an absolute killer to their team. The stat is courtesy of Allen Moff who also states they have given up 143 points. Jimmy Hall like Maric and Baker above will have to carry the load for the Golden Flashes. Hall almost averages a double-double a game and can be considered as one of the candidates for player of the year.
If the Huskies can pull this victory out they can potentially put themselves in a tie for first if the results fall in their favor tomorrow night. They'll face Akron on Saturday and I'll be in attendance as it becomes another huge test for the Huskies. The Golden Flashes are on road against Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
