2015 Kent State Football Recruiting: DB D'Andre Smart Talks Commitment To Golden Flashes

Kent State landed a talented defensive back when D'Andre Smart committed on Sunday night.

Kent State has been pretty quiet on the recruiting trail so far this year. That trend however changed quickly when the Golden Flashes received two verbal commitments from two defensive backs, D'Andre Smart and Khalil Brooks(story on Brooks to come soon).

Smart chose Kent State over reported offers from Howard and Syracuse along with strong interest from Arkansas. Smart received an offer from Kent State about a week ago and decided to accept their scholarship offer on Sunday night. IN a recent interview with Hustle Belt, D'Andre talked about why he chose the Golden Flashes.

"I chose Kent State because I liked the campus when I visited and I am looking to play right away. Playing my freshman year is a huge goal for me and a big reason I went to Kent State."

Former high school teammate, Zaquon Tyson, is currently a freshman wide-receiver at Kent State and Smart said that was a huge help to him during the recruiting process.

Not only is Smart excited to be apart of the Kent State football program, he also has some big goals for when he arrives on campus.

"My goals at Kent State are to do well in school, be a starting defensive back as a freshman, and by the time I graduate I want to be one of the top defensive backs in the MAC."

Kent State is now up to eight commitment for the 2015 recruiting class. The commitment of Smart is a huge boost to this class as they had zero defensive backs committed as of a few days ago. It will definitely be interesting to see how the Golden Flashes fill out this recruiting class within the next few months.

Can't wait to see D'Andre in a Kent State uniform? Well, in the meantime check out his Hudl highlights:
