Terry Bowden and the Akron Zips got their first commitment of the 2015 recruiting class when Wayne Clarington gave his verbal consent on June 6th. Clarington is being recruited as a weak-side defensive end out of Champagnat Catholic School (Hialeah, FL). Clarington helped Champagnat win the FHSAA Class 2A State Championship.

Listed at 6-3.5, 230 Clarington has good height but could add some more weight if he is planning on having his hand on the ground. 247Sports lists him as a 2 star prospect while other websites have him unrated. Getting commits out of Florida can be tough for MAC schools as it is a coveted hotbed for recruits and this is a good sign for the program that they are able to compete in the state.
