2015 Toledo Football Recruiting: DE Nathan Childress Commits To Rockets

First the Toledo Rockets went hard after offensive linemen, and now it appears their focus has switched to the defensive side. A few weeks after getting their first defensive line commit, Chad Coeling, the Rockets got a verbal commitment from Nathan Childress.

Childress committed to the Rockets last week, choosing Toledo over offers from Akron, Ball State, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Western Michigan. The Rossford, Ohio native measures in at 6-foot-3 265 pounds. Currently ranked a 2-star prospect by Rivals,  the strong-side defensive end has a lean athletic frame to be a threat off the edge.

Childress is a powerful prospect, and reports of his current weight vary anywhere from 230 to 275 pounds. At the lighter end Childress would make a fantastic edge rusher for the Rockets. At the higher end of that spectrum, he could be moved inside where he'd be an effective run-stopper.
