Kent State is hosting 10 recruits this weekend in the run up to National Signing Day. Whatever the Golden Flashes' staff is doing, they should keep it up after landing a huge commit Saturday.
2015 defensive back Juantez McRae - one of six uncommitted recruits on campus this weekend - announced Saturday that he has committed to the Golden Flashes. The St. Francis Academy High School (Baltimore, Maryland) is a huge get for the Flashes.
Holding offers from Georgia Tech, Oregon State, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Illinois, Boston College, UConn, Iowa, Kentucky, N.C. State, North Carolina and Toledo and Cincinnati, McRae is a high 3-star recruit with immense upside. Considered one of the top 50 safeties in the class of 2015, McRae is a talented athlete who has logged time at wide receiver in high school.
We recently contacted Juantez to find out why he chose Kent State.
"It's all love here man. I just feel so welcomed and loved here. I built a great relationship with all the coaches, and players. By coming for an official made me really fall in love with the Kent State football program and I can see myself becoming something great by being here."
Juantez also added this when asked about choosing Kent State over historically successful programs like Wisconsin and others.
"It's not about how you start it's about the journey you take to FINISH. But finish with progress & I felt as though I'm the missing piece Kent State needs to become successful. Kent state will be at the top soon trust me."
McRae will be the first in his family to play D1 football and hopes to be the first to play in the NFL as well. Although Juantez is extremely talented he knows he still has some things he needs to work on.
Before I walk on campus I have to still grow and mature as an young adult. I will keep grinding in the LAB (weight room) and continue to get stronger and faster each and ever day"
McRae is the type of player that can make an immediate impact for the Flashes next season. Check out his senior highlights, courtesy of Hudl.
