2015 Eastern Michigan Eagles football recruiting: 3-star DT Kwanii Figueroa commits to EMU

Kwanii Figueroa also had receiving offers from Georgia Tech, Buffalo, UMass and James Madison.

Announced earlier today, 3-star defensive lineman Kwanii Figueroa from Brooklyn, New York committed to Eastern Michigan.

"When you go to a school and you find the right fit, you just feel it," Figueroa told Hustle Belt in an over-the-phone interview. Figueroa went on a few campus visits to various schools, but knew that he would end up choosing EMU after his first day on their campus.

6-foot-2, 275-pound defensive end prospect, Figueroa is a huge "get" for EMU. Good size, good speed and good athletic ability, and he's pretty strong too. With his experience having already played in a 3-4 defense, including everything he's learned from being a part of the Nike Varsity combine in Beaverton, Oregon, it's likely that Figueroa could see some playing time as a true freshman. Figueroa agrees.

"I don't see myself being red-shirtted," Figueroa said, "I feel like I'm going to come in and play as a freshman: that's my goal."

Rivals is the only major recruiting website that provides any star ranking for Figueroa, which they have him as a 3-star prospect. He also had receiving offers from Georgia Tech, New Hampshire, Buffalo, UMass, James Madison, Tennessee State, and Towson.

"I'm just excited about helping the program get back on the map," Figueroa said. "They've got the potential, the coaches, the players, the programs and everything, so it's just about getting the players. I'm excited to play and be a part of something big."
