2016 Central Michigan Football Recruiting: DE Josh Eldridge Commits To Chippewas

CMU picked up the first 2016 pledge of the John Bonamego era earlier this week.

Recently hired head coach John Bonamego has secured his first class of 2016 commitment. Just a few days after receiving his scholarship offer from Bonamego and the Central Michigan staff, defensive end Josh Eldridge committed to the Chippewas earlier this week, according to the coaching staff at Clintondale High (MI), and media reports.

With upperclassmen littered across the CMU defensive line one of the main focuses of the Chippewas staff on the recruiting trail is locking down talented lineman to help build the depth chart back up for years to come. Eldridge should have no problem helping Central Michigan in that department.

Eldridge, an under-the-radar prospect, might not have been heavily recruited by college programs, but displays the athletic ability to become a very solid pass rusher off the edge for the Chippewas. Still needing to put on some weight to bang with the big boys up front on the college level, the 6'4 and 225 pound soon-to-be senior has a frame that should easily be able to hold 20-30 more pounds after working with the Central Michigan conditioning staff when he arrives on campus.
