Wide receiver Thomas Cole committed to the Zips earlier this week. While Cole had reportedly received offers from Air Force and Akron, he decided to call head coach Terry Bowden to accept Akron's offer. Cole also had reportedly been in talks with Toledo.
Thomas Cole caught up with Hustle Belt to discuss why he believed Akron was the right place for him.
"I love coach Bowden. It's close enough for my family to come watch me, and [Akron] has a great business program."
Cole is not quite exactly sure what he would like to go into, but he told Hustle Belt that he sees himself going into the business field. He also stated that his main goal is to sign an NFL contract after his career at Akron.
Thomas Cole dominated at Brooke High School in Wellsburg, West Virginia. Cole has the potential to be a red-zone nightmare for defenses. The 6-foot-5 220 pound wide receiver has the size and strength to play at the next level. The Zips could really use Cole's size as they finished last in the MAC in red-zone offense, converting only 68 percent of its possessions into a score.
