2016 Central Michigan Chippewas football recruiting: QB Austin Hergott talks commitment

"I think I'm a perfect fit for them as they are for me."

The Central Michigan Chippewas have added their quarterback of the 2016 class. Austin Hergott, quarterback from Fort Thomas, Kentucky (Highlands HS) recently verbally committed to CMU.

"They're taking a chance on me with my lack of varsity experience," Hergott said to Hustle Belt. "The coaches were great. I really bought into what they were saying and I think I'm a perfect fit for them as they are for me."

There's not much out there on the internet about Hergott. There's yet to be a 247Sports profile on him, but his Hudl page lists Hergott as a 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect with a 40-time of 5.21 seconds.

His older brother, Brandon Hergott, was a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bearcats last year but has since left the program.

"My film and stats don't do my capabilities justice," Hergott added. "I've put in a lot of work this offseason, focusing on my footwork which has improved my accuracy. I've always had the arm strength, but now that I can utilize my lower body, it's been propelling me heading into my senior year." Hergott also added that he has been working a lot at reading defensive schemes and trying to be a more well-rounded quarterback.

Hergott seems like he's always anxious to improve, so check out what he has to build off of in these highlights, courtesy of Hudl:
