2016 Ball State Football Recruiting: WR Wyatt Plate Commits To Cardinals

The Cardinals add a speedy receiver to the 2016 class.

Pete Lembo and the Ball State coaching staff are always searching for future Cardinals on the recruiting trail. After a slow start to the 2016 class, Lembo and crew are currently sitting at 14 verbal commitments after receiving a pledge from Lumen Christi (MI) wide receiver Wyatt Plate on Friday morning.

"They were the first place that believed in me and didn't just look at how many stars or offers I had. They recognized a hard worker and devoted football player that has high potential." The 5'10, 170-pound, Plate stated to Hustle Belt as a few of the reasons that led to him to accepting the Cardinals scholarship offer.

Holding offers from not the just the Cardinals, but also programs such as Eastern Washington, and Grand Valley State, the under-the-radar play maker isn't the only one excited over his decision to continue his athletic and academic career at Ball State.

"Coach Bailey told me after the whole staff got done discussing me they all said they loved me. Coach Lynch the offensive coordinator considers me a steal and that I would be a perfect fit at Ball State. They want me to play slot and create match ups with the linebackers because no linebacker runs a 4.39 forty." Said, Plate.
