2016 Western Michigan football recruiting: 3-star OL Spencer Kanz commits to the Broncos

P.J. Fleck and his staff made yet another huge splash on the recruiting trail last night.

After losing a few recruits over the past month or so, those who follow WMU recruiting knew it was only a matter of time before P.J. Fleck and his staff landed a commitment from yet another impact recruit.

On Saturday night, the Broncos landed an immediate impact guy in 3-star OL Spencer Kanz. The 6-foot-6 275 pound lineman currently attends Luxemburg Casco HS located in Luxemburg, Wisconsin.

Kanz chose the Broncos over listed offers from Army, Bowling Green, Buffalo, EMU, FAU, Harvard, Illinois, Miami, New Mexico, NIU, Ohio, Oklahoma State, and Toledo. Many seemed to think that Kanz was destined for Oklahoma State, over even Wisconsin(who has not offered) however Kanz decided that WMU was the perfect fit.

"I have a great relationship with the O-line coach Callahan because he coached my brother at Eastern Illinois and I love the direction the program is headed. Also coach Fleck is the best recruiter in college football."

As I've mentioned in previous articles, relationships as well as trust are the two keys to recruiting. Kanz's relationship with coach Callahan was clearly a huge factor in landing him.

He also has some big goals he would like to accomplish while at WMU.

Kanz plans to "win the MAC, compete at the national level, and get better each and every day."

On top of that, he was also seen a standout performer at a recent Wisconsin camp according to BadgerBlitz.com. After watching his junior highlights, it is easy to see why he stood out. Kanz displays ideal footwork to go with good athleticism for an offensive lineman.
