The Toledo football squad is on a roll. One of the hottest programs on the recruiting trail in the Mid-American Conference, the Rockets added their 15th pledge of the 2016 cycle on Tuesday evening.
Following in the footsteps of prospects Alonzo McCoy (Redford,MI/Lee M. Thurston), Jatairis Grant (Akron/Garfield), Tyrece Speaight (Upper Arlington/Upper Arlington), and Zach Ford (Cleveland/Cleveland Heights), fellow defensive back Justin Clark of West Bloomfield High (MI) announced his verbal commitment to UT.
"I called coach (DK) McDonald with the news, and he was just excited to have me join the family. Then I got on the phone with the head coach (Matt Campbell). He was excited to have me commit as well. He said I have a bright future at Toledo." The 6'0, 165-pound, Clark stated to Hustle Belt.
"I felt like Toledo was the right fit for me, and I like that their football program is headed in the right direction. Most importantly I like that the coaches care more about academic than football because that is what you go to college for. It's to get a solid education and walk way with a degree." Said, Clark who chose the Rockets over reported scholarship offers from Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Temple, and Southern Illinois.
The academic structure wasn't the only thing that led Justin to Toledo. Competing against his high school teammate and friend, Evan Foster, a Bowling Green pledge also played a part in his college plans.
"When I think of Toledo football I think of championships. I think of all the great success we are going to have winning multiple rings and making sure those boys over at Bowling Green don't get any."
