Sometimes the best decisions are the ones that are made within hours of the option opening up. Less than 12 hours after reporting an offer from the Bobcats, Conrad decided to make the call to commit to Coach Solich and the rest of his staff late Thursday afternoon. Conrad announced his decision on his Twitter account:
I'm officially committed to Ohio University to further my academic and football career. #DreamGreen16 pic.twitter.com/aIL0g2dYTp

Austin, whose brother CJ is an incoming freshman at the University of Kentucky, currently plays TE for Keystone HS in La Grange, OH. He and his brother both play the same position, and the elder Conrad ended the season ranked as a top-10 TE nationally so talent definitely runs in the blood of the Conrad family.
"It just felt like the right fit for me. There just seems to be a winning attitude there" Conrad said when Hustle Belt caught up with him shortly after his commitment. That winning atmosphere created by legendary Coach Solich seems to be paying off, as Conrad is the Bobcats 10th commit already for the 2016 class.
Conrad committed to the Bobcats over other reported offers from Fordham, Akron, and Ball State, along with interest from schools such as Air Force, Toledo, and Northwestern among others. Conrad can be seen all over the field, offense and defense. He is a versatile blocker, who uses his length (6-foot-3) to separate himself from others in the passing game. He has a chance to shoot up the rankings if he can continue to grow as a route runner, and the highlights are definitely similar between him and his brother.
