The Massachusetts Minutemen picked up a commitment on Friday from a JUCO defensive lineman that will certainly help their pass rush for 2016 and beyond.
Ali Ali-Musa's verbal commitment to UMass was first reported by the Maroon Musket, and the 3-star lineman will be a welcome addition to the Minutemen defense for the 2016 season. Ali-Musa choose the Minutemen over offers from MAC foe Buffalo and FCS members Bethune-Cookman, Tennessee-Martin, and Norfolk State.
Ali-Musa's primary skill is his ability to get to the quarterback, something that UMass has been sorely lacking since their move up to FBS. His addition will make the defensive line more of a factor going into UMass' first season as an independent. The Minutemen need someone who can create havoc from the defensive line and they hope Ali-Musa is that player.

Ali-Musa and his teammate at Nassau defensive lineman Zach Cannon both took official visits to UMass in July for the Minutemen's 3rd annual recruiting clambake. They came away impressed with the school, and after some deliberation, Ali-Musa gave UMass his verbal commitment. Ali-Musa spoke to Scout Recruiting about his official visit back in July which you can read here.
