After telling media members he was committed to Bowling Green last weekend, class of 2016 defensive lineman Edrick Mathews is now a Toledo Rocket. Visiting the UT campus on Thursday evening for the Rockets season opener, the Cass Tech High (MI) product walked away as the 19th senior prospect to give Matt Campbell, and the Toledo coaching staff a pledge.
Mathews, a two-star prospect, according to Rivals, chose the Rockets over reported scholarship offers from Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, and Kent State.
Wanting to add depth across the defensive line, Campbell, and crew have done a great job on the recruiting trail tracking down pieces of the future. The 6'3, 280-pound, Mathews joins fellow senior standout linemen David Hood, John Hunter, and Willie Ross in the Rockets talented class of 2016.
