2017 Western Michigan Football Recruiting: WR Marcus Hayes and Chris Bell commit to the Broncos

That didn't take long...P.J. Fleck landed two verbal commitments for the class of 2017 this weekend.

Just a few weeks after National Signing Day 2016, Western Michigan has landed two verbal commitments for their 2017 recruiting class. On Sunday afternoon, WMU received verbal commitments from wide receivers Marcus Hayes and Chris Bell. Both players announced on their respective Twitter accounts.

Marcus Hayes currently attends Lutheran High School located in Rockford, Illinois. Hayes committed to WMU just a few hours after receiving an offer from P.J. Fleck and his staff while on an unofficial visit. Hayes chose WMU over reported offers from CMU and Illinois State. Hayes is rather versatile, as he plays wide receiver, defensive back, as well as a return man on special teams for Lutheran. He stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs 185 pounds. As a junior, Hayes was selected to All-Conference and All-State Honorable Mention.

Chris Bell currently attends Bishop McNamara which is located in Kankakee, Illinois. Bell also was on an unofficial visit in Kalamazoo this weekend. WMU is Bell's only offer. Bell stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs 178 pounds. Bell seems to have an ability to stretch the field with his ability to win jump balls and is a threat to score anytime he touches the ball. Bell is an exciting player to watch on film, look for Bell to develop even further during his senior year.

Western Michigan reportedly hosted a lot of recruits on campus this weekend and has been busy offering many 2017 and 2018 recruits. Look for Fleck and his staff to build off this early momentum. One thing is for sure, the WMU coaching staff is already excited about this 2017 class.
