Coach Bonamego has been extremely busy on the recruiting trail so far as his program just landed their 15th commitment for their 2017 recruiting class. Currently, their class ranks 24th best among FBS programs which is ranked higher than powerhouse programs such as USC, Florida, Stanford, and Texas A&M. Is this likely to last? No, however it definitely shows that the future is bright in Mt. Pleasant. This class has been built locally as they currently have 10 in-state recruits committed.
3-star DB Devonni Reed announced his decision on his Twitter page on Thursday evening.

Reed chose CMU over reported offers from NIU, Kent State, Ball State, Bowling Green, EMU, Buffalo, Miami, Toledo, and Western Michigan.
Reed is ranked across all three main recruiting site as 247Sports and Scout rate him a 3-star recruit, while Rivals rates him a 2-star recruit.
Reed possesses above average tackling skills for a defensive back which should help him adjust to the college level quickly.
As far as CMU's class as a whole, Reed gives them a big boost as he is the second true defensive back to commit in this class. The other being Florida native Norman Anderson.
