Recently, Akron added two verbal commitments into the fold, WR Dustin Burkhart and OL Marcus Kidd.
Burkhart announced his decision on Twitter Sunday afternoon.

In a recent interview with the Akron Beacon Journal, Burkhart explained his decision:
"I felt like U of A is the best for place for me because there coaches made me feel like I was wanted. They have a good environment and they really believe in me as an athlete. I felt a lot of trust within the program."
Burkhart currently attends Coventry high school located in Akron. Akron is the only school to reportedly offer the 6-foot-2 185 pound recruit.
Kidd has made no formal announcement, however the news was broken by Michael Beaven of the Akron Beacon Journal.

The 6-foot-7 270 pound offensive lineman currently attends Garfield high school located in Akron. Like Burkhart, Akron is Kidd's only reported offer.
The commitments of Kidd and Burkhart give the Zips four verbal commitment for the 2017 class, and to date they are all local players. It is fair to say that coach Bowden and his staff have made it a priority to recruit locally. With that said, the Zips have a history of recruiting the state of Florida well, so don't be surprised to see multiple players from the Sunshine State included in this recruiting class when February comes around.
