2017 Miami RedHawks Football Recruiting: Three-star QB Jackson Williamson commits to Miami

The RedHawks picked up their fifth three-star prospect of 2017.

After a bit of a lull for Miami in terms of commitments, the RedHawks made some big waves Thursday with the commitment of Jackson Williamson, a three-star quarterback out of Westside High School in South Carolina according to 247Sports. Williamson chose Miami over offers from Georgia State, Troy, and Western Carolina.

Williamson becomes the ninth 2017 commit for Miami as well as the fifth three-star prospect to choose the RedHawks, joining Peter Nank, Chris Glaser, Mitchell Burton, and Adam Mehelic. Miami's recruiting class is now fourth in the MAC per 247Sports' composite team rankings with a long way to go until signing day.

The quarterback looks like a great pickup for the Red and White, sitting 6'3", 200 pounds and made some hay at a recent Elite 11 combine where he was named one of the top three players at his position. He has been a prolific passer for the Rams with 2,802 yards, 29 touchdowns, five interceptions, five rushing TDs, 69% completion, and guided the team to a 11-2 record a season ago. Judging from his Hudl film (which you can see below), Williamson has a good arm, good ball placement, has a pretty good feel for the pocket, and does a good job of keeping his eyes downfield, always in a good position to pass.
