Ball State is completely rebuilding their secondary so far in this recruiting class. In just two or three short years, it is likely that the Cardinals will have one of the best secondaries in the conference.
Verenzo Holmes announced his decision on New Year’s Eve through Twitter:

Holmes chose the Cardinals over reported FBS offers from Georgia State, Charleston Southern, Georgia Southern, Middle Tennessee State, Ohio, Southern Miss, and Western Kentucky.
He currently attends Aquinas high school located in Augustus, Georgia. Holmes is the fifth Georgia native to commit to Ball State in this recruiting cycle.
The 6-foot 175 pound defensive back will have an opportunity to play immediately in Munchie as Ball State experienced significant struggles in their secondary this past year. He not only has the ability to make an impact on defense, but Holmes also excelled on special teams as a return man in high school. It will be interesting to see if coach Neu and his staff give Holmes the opportunity to return any kicks at the next level.
Ball State’s director of Player Personnel, Tilmon Clark, was understandably fired up about this commitment as he sent out this tweet shortly after Holmes committed.
