It’s been a hectic weekend across the entire conference. Here’s a team-by-team update on the latest rumblings:
Akron
The Zips lost a commitment over the weekend in 2-star LB Will Barto. Akron is Barto’s only reported offer so it will be interesting to see where he lands.
Ball State
3-star LB Shahid Reece committed over the weekend.
3-star WR Justin Gibbs is yet another big-time pickup for the Cardinals. Gibbs chose the Cardinals over reported offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Cincinnati, Mississippi State, Purdue, and Wake Forest to name a few. This is the second three-star wide receiver to commit to the Cardinals in the past two weeks, the other being Khalil Newton.
Bowling Green
Barring any last minute de-commitments, Bowling Green’s class is looking pretty set at the moment. Arguably their top commit, 3-star DE Jordan Murphy was on his official visit over the weekend. The Falcons have really emphasized the defensive side of the football in this recruiting class with the additions of LB Noah Harvey and DT Jamari Rouse.
Buffalo
3-star RB Elijah Barnwell. Barnwell had a reported offer from Rutgers as well as multiple FCS programs.
CMU
CMU landed four commitments from recruits who were on their official visits over the weekend:
WR Drayton Law. Law is a 3-star wide receiver who flipped his commitment from Troy. Law also had reported offers from Grambling State and Southern Miss.
WR Ty Henderson. Henderson attends Dublin Jerome high school in Dublin, Ohio. He also excels on special teams as a kick returner.
S Willie Reid. Reid currently attends Cass Tech, a local powerhouse in the state of Michigan. CMU was the 6-foot-1 177 pound safety’s only reported offer.
S Jack Combs. Combs is a Michigan native who had reported offers from Butler and Valparaiso. Check out his profile courtesy of The D Zone.
EMU
2-star WR Quian Williams was on an official visit to EMU last weekend, and took a visit to Wyoming this past weekend. It would seem that he is down to those schools. EMU could really use his playmaking abilities on the field next year.
Kent State
WR Jonathan Moore. committed while he was on an official visit over the weekend. Moore had reported FBS offers from FIU, FAU, Miami, and Temple.
QB Will Phillis. Phillis is a local product out of Olentangy Orange high school who is an intriguing addition to this class. He joins Dustin Crum as the other quarterback in this recruiting class.
DT Anthony McKay. McKay is a junior-college recruit with a rather intriguing background story. McKay had been away from the game of football for five year before eventually returning at the junior college level to pursue his dreams of playing division 1 football. Check out this article from Monterey Herald on McKay’s journey.
Miami
TE Mitch Lewis. Lewis is a talented tight end who has the ability to really stretch the field. He had reported offers from Ball State, Buffalo, WKU, and Wyoming.

NIU
NIU lost the verbal commitments of one of their quarterbacks this weekend. 3-star QB/ATH Nate Wieland receiver an offer from Iowa, and has since de-committed from NIU. He will announce his commitment on Monday morning. Iowa is recruiting him as a linebacker.
They also could lost the commitment of 2-star DE Daviyon Nixon who recently was offered by Iowa. Nixon took an official visit to Iowa over the weekend where he reportedly “feels at home.” It seems like only a matter of time before Nixon makes things official and flips to the Hawkeyes.
Ohio
3-star RB Morgan Ellison decommitted from Ohio recently. He will announce his decision on National Signing Day. He is still considering Ohio, but recently received an offer from Indiana.
Toledo
3-star OL Kedonis Haslem and Davyn Flenord committed over the weekend.
The Rockets also lost the commitment of 3-star OL Vince O’Connell, who has flipped to Cincinnati.
WMU
DB Ryan Lezzer announced his commitment while taking his official visit over the weekend.
