Kent State received good news on the recruiting trail over the weekend with the commitment of 3-star defensive back Elvis Hines. Hines is a 5-foot-10 176 pound defensive back from Camden, New Jersey who transferred to IMG Academy.

Hines had seven reported offers from Air Force, Buffalo, Charlotte, Old Dominion, Temple, and Western Kentucky. He announced his commitment on Twitter as well as his intent to enroll early.

This is Kent State’s second 3-star defensive back for the 2017 class. Rodley Jolicoeur is rated 2 stars by 247Sports, and is being recruited as a safety. Enrolling early for the Spring semester will give Hines a better opportunity to see the field next year as a freshman.

Hines displays good ball instincts and quick bursts of speed to break up passes. He also had three interceptions on the year.
