The Miami RedHawks picked up a big (pun intended) commitment on Tuesday as TE/DE Will Kellison of Bishop Chatard (IN) announced via Twitter that he was continuing his learning and playing career in Oxford. Kellison chose Miami over seven other MAC offers: Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo, and Western Michigan.

The 6’5”, 240-pounder from Indianapolis has the frame that you’re looking for in a developmental prospect that can play either side of the ball.
Seeing as Miami’s offense doesn’t really feature the tight end much, expect Kellison to be contributor at defensive end where his length and his athleticism (along with the strength that he’ll eventually develop) can make him an anchor on the edge of the RedHawk defense. You can peruse his junior highlights below courtesy of Hudl.
As you can see, Kellison brings a lot of athleticism to the table along with his great size and is good at finishing blocks from the tight end position. He does need to develop a stronger upper body if he’s going to take on 300+ pound guys at the next level and he needs to work on developing a stronger punch as a DE and be more fundamentally sound in shedding blocks.
Kellison is the fourth commit so far for Miami’s 2018 class, and with the pieces that are already in place, it could shape up to be Chuck Martin’s finest in Oxford.
