College Football Rankings Week 8: Northern Illinois Remains No. 23 In AP And Coaches Poll

The Huskies stand pat in the rankings after struggling in their win over Akron.

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

For the second straight week the Northern Illinois Huskies come in at No. 23 in both the AP Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Huskies (6-0, 2-0 MAC) lack of movement likely has a lot to do with their uninspiring 27-20 win over Akron (1-6, 0-3) Saturday. NIU struggled to hold off the Zips' offense, and had issues of its own scoring against the Zips.

Still, the Huskies are undefeated, one of just over a dozen teams that has yet to lose. If they can keep winning they will move up s others lose. But, unless they can win more convincingly, they will have a hard time getting anywhere near the Top 15.

Ball State, which received votes in the Coaches Poll a week ago, didn't move into the Top 25 despite another win.

Below is the entire AP Top 25 Poll. The USA Coaches Poll is unavailable for embedding at this time.
