Ball State Builds 28-10 Halftime Lead At Akron

Ball State quarterback Keith Wenning tossed three touchdown passes, en route to building a 28-10 first half lead against Akron at InfoCision Stadium.

Wenning has completed 18 of 24 passes for 172 yards.  In the first half Wenning became the 11th quarterback in MAC history to throw for more than 10,000 yards in a career.  Wenning completed 10 of those passes to Jordan Williams for 88 yards and a touchdown.  MAC leading receiver Willie Snead also caught 5 passes for 59 yards and two scores.  Jahwan Edwards paced the Ball State rushing attack, carrying the ball 16 times for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Akron's running back Jawon Chisholm tallied 134 yards rushing on 11 carries in the first half.  He scored the Zips lone touchdown on a 65 yard run.  Quarterback Kyle Pohl has completed 5 of 15 passes for 52 yards and was picked off once.  Akron had the opportunity to make this a one score game.  Following a Wenning fumble in Ball State territory Zips kicker Robert Stein missed a 32 yard field goal that hit off the right upright with under 10 minutes left in the second quarter to keep the game at 14-3.
