Early in the third quarter Jordan Lynch rumbled eight yards for a score to cut the NIU Huskies deficit to 31-20 after a miserable first half. It was the first truly successful run for Lynch on the night, as he struggled all throughout the first two quarters against Bowling Green's Top 10-defense. But it wasn't only a key run in terms of the game, but also in terms of the NCAA record books.
The run brought his season rushing total up to 1,823 yards, breaking the NCAA record for a quarterback, which Lynch set last season by running for 1,815.
With nearly two quarters left, and a bowl game to go, Lynch is ever closer to becoming the first player in NCAA history to rush for 2,000 and throw for 2,000 yards in the same season.
