Buffalo Bulls vs. Akron Zips: Game Time, TV, Radio, Streaming, and More

The University at Buffalo is tanking and a win against the Zips would boost their morale. Oh, and did I mention that there's Midweek MACtion involved?

Matthew O'Haren-USA TODAY Sports

The first nationally televised MAC games for both the Akron Zips and the Buffalo Bulls didn't go too well for either team last week as the teams lost by a combined forty points.

The Akron Zips are traveling to New York after a heart-breaking loss at the hands of the Bowling Green Falcons last Tuesday. The loss makes it nearly impossible for the Zips to win the MAC East and could possibly hurt their chances at their first bowl appearance since 2005. Akron was down by a score of 6-3 at the half, and then all hell broke loose as the Falcons pulled away for a 27-10 victory. Kyle Pohl threw a career high 62 attempts and completed a career high 31 passes. The only problem is that he threw 3 interceptions and his receivers dropped approximately 9 catches. The Zips come into the game with an overall record of 4-5 and a MAC record of 2-3.

The Buffalo Bulls are playing the Akron Zips for the first time since they played in Buffalo in 2011. Some changes have taken place since then. Jeff Quinn was the head coach of Buffalo and Rob Ianello was the head coach of Akron. Yes, there have been some changes. Last week the Bulls went to Athens and returned home with their tails between their legs. Ohio won by a final score of 37-14. The Bulls were facing a shutout until Joe Licata connected with Rob Willoughby with 3:54 to go in the third quarter that cut the Bobcat lead to 27-7. A thirty-point loss was avoided by the Bulls on a 75-yard scoop and score by Boise Ross with 1:16 remaining in the game. The Bulls sit at 3-6 overall and 1-4 in MAC play.

The Akron Zips lead the all-time series with the Buffalo Bulls with a record of 9-4. The last match up was a 51-10 beat down handed to the Zips by the Bulls in 2011 at Buffalo. The 41-point victory by the Bulls is the largest margin of victory in series history.
