It's been a relatively disappointing season for both teams involved in this match-up, but hey, there's a reason why the saying is "on any given Saturday."
The Ball State Cardinals (3-7, 2-4 MAC) were considered a MAC West sleeper in the preseason, but a couple baffling non-conference losses, combined with the fact that they play in the meat grinder that is the MAC West Division, has resulted in a season filled with what ifs.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles (2-8, 1-4 MAC) are in the center of another rebuilding year under first year head coach Chris Creighton, with their only conference win coming against Buffalo.
There isn't really a lot at stake here; Bowling Green has clinched the MAC East already, and Ball State is no longer bowl-eligible after a loss to Northern Illinois last week. Both these teams want to get a W for their own reasons, and it will be fun to see who comes out of this scrum with it.
