Bowl Season Opening Day Open Thread

Bowl season is upon us, and the MAC has the evening spotlight with back-to-back showings on ESPN in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl and Raycom Camellia Bowl.

Happy Holidays everyone!  We hope you're done with your shopping, because over the next five days,  we have four bowl games for your entertainment.

First up?  The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.  It'll be the fourth year the bowl goes by the Potato name, and the fifth straight season a MAC team will play in the franchised bowl.  Western Michigan will carry the conference banner into the opener, facing a tough Air Force team that knocked off Boise State earlier this year, forcing seven turnovers against those Broncos.  Western Michigan is 0-5 all-time in bowl games.  That game can be seen at 5:30 pm EST on ESPN.

After that, don't go anywhere because the Raycom Camellia Bowl follows up that game in its inaugural game.  MAC East Champion Bowling Green looks to score a big win against upstart South Alabama, who are making their first bowl appearance in just their sixth season of existence.  The Falcons enter with a better record, but only have one win against a team not in the MAC East or FCS.  Can Dino Babers end a four-game bowl losing streak by the program?

Hop on in, grab some egg nog, and don your ugliest sweater (or brown or orange hoodie), and enjoy the #MACtion.
