The Northern Illinois Huskies will host the Ball State Cardinals this Saturday and do battle for the Bronze Stalk trophy. The all-time series may be tied at 20-20-2 but since 1999 NIU has dominated this series, going 13-3 against Ball State.
The Bronze Stalk was introduced back in 2008, with the Cardinals claiming the inaugural victory. However, they have yet to see it again as the Huskies have won the last six games in this series.
Quick Game Info:
Game time, date: October 10th, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EST (2:30 CST).
Location: Huskie Stadium in DeKalb, Illinois.
TV/Streaming: ESPN3
Radio: 560AM (Chicagoland), 98.9FM (DeKalb)
Odds: NIU is a 10.5 point favorite with the O/U at 56.
Players to Watch:
Riley Neal (QB, Ball State) - with NIU's rush defense playing really well this season, the Cardinals will need a strong performance from Neal if they want to put up points.
Drew Hare (QB, NIU) - The last few weeks Hare has struggled immensely and, in the loss to CMU last week, he fumbled the ball four times. When he's on, the Huskie offense can be great, but we haven't seen too much of that so far this season.
Jordan Williams (WR, Ball State) - Williams is coming off of back-to-back 100+ yard games and will look to continue that streak against a bipolar NIU pass defense.
Shawun Lurry (CB, NIU) - Lurry is tied for the most interceptions in the NCAA, with five. He has a pick in four of the five games, including the last three. He'll look to extend that streak this week.
Sean Wiggins (LB, Ball State) - Wiggins is a beast of a linebacker who leads the team in picks and is second in tackles. He'll be patrolling the middle and looking to stop Hare and Joel Bouagnon this week.
