MAC Football Power Rankings: Broncos, Huskies slide up, minimal movement overall

Central Michigan dropped out of the Top 5, Broncos and Huskies move up to 4 and 5.

Aaron Doster-USA TODAY Sports

Well this has been pretty lame. All home teams minus Eastern Michigan won their games and there wasn't a whole lot of movement in our power rankings this week.

Rank Team Points (First place picks) Preseason Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5
1 Toledo 14 (14) 1 2 1 1 1 1
2 Bowling Green 30 3 4 2 3 2 2
3 Ohio 47 7 7 4 4 4 3
4 Western Michigan 56 4 3 5 5 5 5
5 Northern Illinois 67 2 1 3 2 3 6
6 Central Michigan 82 10 9 6 8 7 4
7 Ball State 109 5 5 7 6 6 7
8 Buffalo 111 8 8 8 7 8 8
9 Akron 119 9 11 11 10 9 10
10 Massachusetts 139 6 6 9 9 10 9
11 Kent State 155 12 13 12 12 11 11
12 Eastern Michigan 162 13 12 10 11 12 12
13 Miami 182 12 10 13 13 13 13

The only maneuvering from last week's power ranking's was that Western Michigan and Northern Illinois moved up one spot to 4 and 5 respectively while Central Michigan dropped down from 4 to 6 after losing in their Battle for the Cannon rivalry game. Akron and UMass also swapped places with one another at 9 and 10 after Akron put up 500 yards of offense on the Eagles and the Minutemen suffered a big loss to Bowling Green.

Toledo, Bowling Green and Ohio all won big in their home games over Kent State, UMass and Miami to maintain their spots in our top five positions. The bottom three teams, Kent State, Eastern Michigan and Miami, all remain the same in their spots as well.

Ball State hung in with the Huskies in a shootout, but their loss keeps them at 7 while Buffalo on a bye week kept them at 8.
