Matt Johnson breaks Bowling Green Falcons football single-season passing record

Matt Johnson is having an incredible season, probably the best in school history.

Travis Greene isn't the only one having a memorable moment on Senior Day. Redshirt-freshman Matt Johnson came back from a season-ending hip surgery last year and has broken the single-season passing record in Bowling Green history.

Johnson came into the game with 3,955 passing yards through the first ten games of the season, only 96 yards shy of Tyler Sheehan's record. With the help of Roger Lewis and the entire deep pool of skilled players on this year's Falcons roster, Johnson has had six games this year with over 400 passing yards, including a career-high 491 yards at Maryland where he had six touchdown passes.

It's worth noting that Johnson was 531 yards shy of Ben Roethlisberger's single-season passing record (4,486) that he set for the MAC back in 2003 with the Miami RedHawks.

BGSU single-season career passing leaders:

1. Matt Johnson (4,061*, '15)

2. Tyler Sheehan (4,051, '09)

3. Omar Jacobs (4,002, '04)

4. Josh Harris (3,813, '03)

5. Matt Johnson (3,467, '13)
