Eastern Michigan 50, Northeastern 47

Tory Verdi's first game coaching the Eagles turned out OK ... eventually.

With 12 minutes left in the second half, EMU trailed 43-26 and points were not easy for them. But Northeastern would score just one more basket in the game and were shut out in the final five minutes. A balanced attack followed by cold shooting and stingy defense helped EMU finish the game on an improbable 24-4 run.

Miranda Tate led EMU with 23 points (6-for-13 on threes) and seven rebounds. She was the only Eagle in double figures. They're enjoying this close call now, but on Thursday they turn around and host Michigan State.
