Miami (OH) 63, Northern Kentucky 52

After dropping a tough one to Eastern Kentucky, the Lady RedHawks tried a different part of the state, only at home, and it worked out much better. If Northern Kentucky sounds new, that's because it is: they're transitioning to Division I starting this year and will become a full member by 2016.

NKU hung around pretty well — they were tied in the second half — which doesn't bode great for the RedHawks purported MAC East dominance heading into this season but they pulled away enough to make it look dominant. Courtney Osborn had 20 points and nine assists, and freshman Maddie McCallie gave them 15 points. Kirsten Olowinski provided 12 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and three steals.

Miami is now 1-1 and will play Robert Morris on Thursday.
